A Country Stream was later published as a photogravure plate in the October, 1889 issue of Sun & Shade, plate III, whole # 14. Credit for plate in lower left margin corner is for W.J. Stillman Photo.

What appears to be the shoes of these well-dressed children wading into the water can be seen deposited in brush on the left hand side of the stream bank.

Stillman, (1828-1901) was an American painter, journalist and photographer.
