Photographed by Alfred Stieglitz in 1894, this scene shows a woman filling water jugs using the public well built during the Renaissance in the Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo public square in Venice. The image was used as the frontis for the December, 1899 issue of the Times. This public well can still be seen on this famous Venetian square today.
